Trains from Saigon (Ho Chi Minh) to Hanoi
The railway from Saigon Railway Station to Hanoi Railway Station is 1,726 kilometres long. There are four sleeper trains that take from 32 to 37 hours. These are SE2, SE4, SE6 and SE8. All carriages are air-conditioned. There are four kinds of carriages: hard seat, soft seat, hard berth (6 berths in a cabin) and sort berth (4 berths in a cabin).
SE8: Departs at 6:00 a.m. and arrives at 7:12 p.m. (37 hours and 12 minutes)
SE6: Departs at 4:00 p.m. and arrives at 4:17 a.m. (36 hours and 17 minutes)
SE4: Departs at 7:00 p.m. and arrives at 5:00 a.m. (34 hours)
SE2: Departs at 8:55 p.m. and arrives at 5:40 a.m. (32 hours and 30 minutes)
One of the most picturesque stretches of the railway is from Da Nang Railway Station northwards to Hue Railway Station. SE8 passes this during the night. So you might want to consider SE6 (10:26 a.m. – 1:44 p.m.), SE4 (11:59 a.m. – 3:08 p.m.), or SE2 (1:17 p.m. – 4:09 p.m.).
